Good morning and happy Wednesday! I've experienced firsthand the profound impact a caring, dedicated teacher can have – and I’m sure you have, too. The educators who go above and beyond, who see potential in every child regardless of their background, are truly shaping our future. It's why I'm so passionate about supporting teachers, especially those working in under resourced schools. They're the unsung heroes, making a world of difference with limited means.

It’s Equity Schools Day at DonorsChoose, so today, we’re featuring a few ways you can support under resourced schools in your community. I selected some campaigns that demonstrate some of the many ways that teachers are trying to support their students this year – from providing food and toiletries, creating safe spaces to learn, and giving them tools to ground and focus.

You can donate to any of these, or search for fundraisers by topic and location and choose your own. Most of these are less than $100 toward their goal! Remember, every donation is matched TODAY by an anonymous donor, so your support will go twice as far.

Over the past four years, this community has contributed millions to good causes like this. We’re going to track our impact and report back!

Thank you for making this work possible. This newsletter is fully funded by our readers. Here's how you can help us stay sustainable:

In solidarity,
Nicole

Bouncy Bands for Busy Bodies: $159 left to raise

“Bouncy bands are the perfect addition to any kindergarten classroom. Five year olds have lots of energy and require a quiet and productive way to release all that energy without disrupting learning.

With this project, I'll be able to give all my students a bouncy band on their chair for productive classroom learning.

They will help my students be engaged in learning without having to distract others.”

Personal Hygiene for Tiny Teens: $268 left to raise

“Personal hygiene is critical to staying healthy. We are wanting to provide our students with a small hygiene container in which students are able to take any hygiene products they need home without being asked any embarrassing questions.

Many students do not have access to an adequate supply of personal hygiene products, which may affect their health, their confidence, and their ability to focus on academic tasks.”

Classroom Rug for First Grade Students: $59 left to raise

“Help me give my students a classroom rug for morning meetings and flexible seating! Our school serves students who live in the country-side and many of our students are local Natives. We believe in personalizing education for all kids and that learning should be fun and interactive!

What makes my students truly special is their enthusiasm for learning and their capacity to support and encourage one another. They have big hearts and curious minds, and I want to provide them with the tools they need to succeed both in the classroom and beyond.”

Standing Desks, Snacks and Supplies: $96 left to raise

“Help me give my students a welcoming, creative, and inspiring learning environment! A standing desk will be wonderful for small group instruction as well as to provide a designated area where students can collaborate together.

Crayons, construction paper and markers, will provide my students with learning tools they will need for projects, collaboration, and so much more. I've also added snacks because many students ask for food throughout the day.”

Gym Supples to Fuel Fitness: $98 left to raise

“As a physical education teacher, my students are at the heart of everything I do. I see their full potential each day, and my goal is to help them not only develop physically but also build confidence, resilience, and teamwork. I care deeply about their growth and I want to ensure they have every opportunity to succeed- not just academically, but in life.

Unfortunately, without the necessary equipment, it's difficult for them to engage in the full range of activities that help them thrive.”

“Help me give my students support for hands-on learning, emotional regulation, and inclusion for kindergarten students, fostering their academic and social-emotional development.”
